Just checking in on the way to Victorville CA. I am on the way down to pick up my truck and get on the way to Texas. Nobody called back about the fifth wheeler so more than likely its still broke in the parking lot. Looks like we'll be bringing the U Haul to another race and just hoping for the best. This weekend went alright. A little better than last, but not too much. The track was way different than what I have ever rode. It didn't seem to flow and out of all the riders I talked to, many didn't like it. First practice I just went out, made sure I knew how the track went and check out the jumps and pulled off third lap to keep my thumb from hurting. Second practice I just tried to hook onto a rider in the top 10 of times and check out his lines and try and do one good lap before my thumb hurt too bad. Half lap in the clutch faded and with my thumb the way it is I cant really adjust it so it stalled out and it took forever to restart. So from there it was just time to get back going and try and get a laptime for a good LCQ gate pick. LCQ I got around a 30th place start and just tried to pass as many people as soon as possible. By about the 3rd lap I was in 15th I guess but I just had to pull off. My hand couldnt hold on to the bars and I didn't wanna hurt anyone or myself by not being able to hold on. Texas is a new weekend, and the thumb is getting better each week so I am going to get there and give it my all!

Looks like not to much can go right to start the year off so far. I got my thumb checked out, thanks to asterisk and Paul R. Reiman. I guess a ligament is torn in my thumb and its going to bother me for atleast 4 weeks. They put it in a splint and said to keep it in there besides when riding. Besides being hurt, my trailers axle broke and no one can really fix it. So I had to rent a U haul, leave my trailer in san bernardino and leave my truck at a friends. But all in all we made it to sacramento and were getting ready for the weekend. My thumbs swelling has reduced once again and is feeling a bit better. I have wore the splint since sunday, and plan to keep it on till first practice saturday at hangtown. I am just going to go out there and give it my best and have no regrets. See you guys at the races!

Day one of Glen Helen is officially over. Everyone thought it was going to be a huge mudder but, it turned out great. On the way in we got stuck and couldn't pull into the gate 30 mins before the "2 stroke invite" practice. I only managed to get one lap of practice in before moto time so first lap of the moto was sketchy. Come second lap I landed right into the side of some other rider rolling the triple and re injured my thumb. First 450 practice was alright. They seem a little short, and its nice not having the first one timed. This was the first time I was able to run my race bike. That bike is the fastest thing I have ever ridden, not to mention the suspension is great too! ( thanks to yoshimura and rg3). I managed only 24th fastest. Which wasn't to bad but not where I wanted to be at. Second practice was terriable, I wasn't able to adjust my clutch because of my thumb so it would fade and I couldn't take the play out of it so It would just track into corners and stall occasionally. I did manage to get the track down though but the best I could do was 24 seconds SLOWER than my first practice where everyone else dropped there lap times. I'll try to give you guys an update tomorrow around noon if I get time, till then check out the motocross show on motocross.com

Finally made it to Glen Helen! Didn't get to check out any of the racing that went on thursday or friday but was able to ride the track last week. One thing is for sure Glen Helen is ROUGH with all that sand put down. I ended up cartwheeling before the end of the day and busting my thumb up. The swelling is almost all the way down but its still really painful. Tomorrow morning is the two stroke challenge, pro practice, and then pro timed practice. So tomorrow will be a long day! Keep reading in and if anyone would like to contact me my e mail is Jeffmort@hotmail.com

Hey, checking in again. I am currently in the passenger seat of my truck driving threw Utah, 313 miles from my destination. Wish I had some cool stories for you guys to read, but I have been sleeping most of the way. I got sick the day before we left and every-time I get behind the wheel I cant stay awake for more than an hour. Thanks to my dad and mechanic we are still on track to cali and wont be late. We have a lot to do once we get into cali to get everything set up for Glen Helen. Before days end the motor has to be out of the bike and we have to drop it off to the guy at Yoshimura. Tomorrow we will be riding Glen Helen getting some track time before the national. I'll try and get some pictures today, till then take care!
